New Job Opportunities in Sports

The economy is said to be on its way to a recovery later this year.  What does it mean for sports jobs?  I performed a detailed search last night and found there are sports management positions.  I have done the work for you.  Below you will find positions with the NFL (Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins), MLB (Texas Rangers), NHL (Dallas Stars) and the NBA (Charlotte Bobcats).  There is also a position with the Las Vegas Speedway.  

The positions range from sales to vice president.  Good jobs are out there.  it just takes a little time to research, hunt them down, find inside contacts within these organizations if they interest you.  Then apply.  Happy job hunting.

Open Position:  Director of Facilities Operations

Responsibilities:  

The Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for ongoing commissioning, operating, and 

maintaining Lincoln Financial Field and the NovaCare Complex. Emphasis is placed on ongoing 

commissioning and operating all building systems, managing a preventive maintenance program and 

CMMS, managing building operations and safety procedures, hiring, training & directing a quality staff 

that efficiently and cost effectively operates the facilities.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway

 

Open Position: Director/VP, Sales and Marketing

Responsibilities:  

The [Director/VP] of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities of the 

Speedway. This includes management of the following areas within the department: Corporate Sales, 

Event Sales and Marketing. The position, which reports directly to the President/General Manager of 

LVMS and is a member of the executive team, is responsible for coordinating virtually all areas of 

revenue and business generation. It calls for a person who can work closely with the Director of Ticket 

Services on all issues regarding ticketing for corporate, group and individual accounts. 

Candidates for this position should have at least 10 years of sales, marketing and promotion experience 

with increasing responsibilities during that term. Candidates also must be able to demonstrate direct 

profit and loss results, preferably in the sports and entertainment industries. Experience and contacts 

within the NASCAR, NHRA and other motorsports communities will be beneficial but not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees entire department with up to 10 direct reports including; Director of Sales, Director of Client Services and Director of Suite Sales.
• Drive strategic partnership revenue growth over all properties within BS&E, specifically focused on the Bobcats.
• Deliver sponsorship and suite sales revenue from new and existing accounts
