College Basketball & Frozen Peas
Consider this: If January is the time for New Year’s resolutions, February for Love and April for taxes, what is March? If you are The Oregon Urology Institute, they are reminding you that March is snip snip time -“Snip City 2009″ as they call it and just as the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament getting ready to tip off on Thursday.
It might have something to do with the fact that 32 games will be played from Thursday to Sunday. I guess men need a good excuse to deliver to the wife, boss and the company. If the doctor has told you that you need to rest with the famous frozen peas on the couch, so be it. Just remember to have your March Madness tournament brackets turned in by tip-off (different procedure).
I wanted to gage the interest of men and the effectiveness of this unusual sports marketing campaign so I looked up the top 10 States that had people making vasectomy search requests on Google for March. Here is how the U.S. States ranked.
1. Missouri
2. North Carolina
3. Washington
4. Colorado
5. Michigan
6. Ohio
7. Georgia
8. Texas
9. Pennsylvania
10. Illinois
Now take this ranking and compare it to the 64 teams represented in the tournament. See a connection between U.S. States and tournament teams? I think the awareness campaign has been effective. If you are getting the procedure done this year, enjoy the 32 games. What is your excuse in 2010?
As for me, I think I will take a more traditional route. I will watch the games on TV and Cable when I can and DVR the rest to view when I am free.
