Arizona State Graduate Program. Over and Out.
What do Circuit City, Mervyn’s, Washington Mutual, Lehman Brothers and Arizona State’s Sports Management program all have in common? They are all either out of business or going out of business. Businesses we have heard of and are tired of but, an educational program biting the dust? Blame another one on a sour economy.
Arizona State, which began its Sports Management Program as part of a business school’s MBA offering, is shutting its doors.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported in this week’s edition that the school, headed by executive director Ray Artigue, is done. The sports program is/was part of the W.P. Carey MBA Program.

In a press release just one year ago, Arizona State announced the MBA program was ranked 22nd in U.S. News & World Report’s 2009 ranking of top U.S. MBA programs and is ranked eighth nationally among public universities. The sports program was not mentioned in the news release as part of last year’s ranking.
